The Great Mouse Detective is a 1986 animated mystery film produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation. The film is based on Eve Titus's children's book series Basil of Baker Street and follows the adventures of a mouse detective named Basil of Baker Street who lives in the same Victorian era London as Sherlock Holmes. The story begins when a toy-maker is kidnapped by a villainous peg-legged bat named Fidget. Basil teams up with Dr. Dawson, a recently retired mouse doctor, to solve the mystery and rescue the toy-maker. Throughout their investigation, they come face to face with the notorious Ratigan, a criminal mastermind who is behind the kidnapping and has plans to overthrow the mouse queen.
