Charles Augustuss Magnussen is the main antagonist of the Series 3 of the BBC TV series Sherlock. He was a foreign media mogul and a powerful businessman specialized in blackmail, which he used for gaining even more wealth and power. He is also the owner of Appledore House. He was also a rival to Mycroft Holmes.

Magnussen' current target was Morstan, which he somehow learned about mercenary and killer' past. Starting with the kidnapping of her husband John Watson and subtle threats, he finally intensified campaign against her, at the same moment the private investigator and Mary' friend Sherlock Holmes debuted his own quest against him. Barely surviving with her attempted murder by Mary, Sherlock' initial goal, coupled to his wish to protect Mary, lead him to attempting to tricks Magnussen, which backfired when revealed Appledore had no physical archives and was only in Magnussen head. In critical posture and with no way of stopping him, Sherlock finally shot him in the head, ending his threat for good.
