Continuing to keep an eye on his brother for years, he eventually became an invaluable asset and a respected member of the British government, being regarded as its very embodiment. Due to the obssession of criminal genius Jim Moriarty for his brother, Mycroft was forced to help him with his fight, helping him to fake his death and destroy Moriarty operations before allowing him to return in London and resume his life. Time later however, Mycroft has witnessed Sherlock commiting the murder of businessman Charles Augustus Magnussen, finally choosing to let him stay in England for managing Moriarty's apparent return.
