Mr. Holmes is a 2015 british-american movie, adapted from the 2005 book A Slight Trick of the Mind by Mitch Cullin. The film stars Ian McKellen in the lead role as an aging Sherlock Holmes.
The story is set in 1947, with Holmes living in retirement in a remote Sussex farmhouse, raising bees. At the age of 93, Holmes is dealing with memory loss and struggles to recall the details of his final case, which ultimately led to his retirement. He is haunted by his inability to piece together the mystery and is determined to remember what happened. Holmes forms a bond with Roger, the young son of his housekeeper, who shares his fascination with bees. Together, they uncover the truth about Holmes' past case, leading to a cathartic journey of self-discovery and redemption.
