The General Shan was the leader of the international gang of smugglers Black Lotus Gang.
Shan and his gang were at one time helped by criminal Jim Moriarty to establish themselves in London, using a chinese-themed circus as a cover for leaving China. However, she soon realised that one of her gang had stolen a jade bar, and so she commissioned Zhi "The Spider" Zhu in intend of punish the potential culprits, Eddie Van Coon and Brian Lukis. - From the way Soo Lin Yao phrased when talking about her, it's implicit that Shan wasn't her real name. The Shan are an ethnic minority from south-east Asia, including China, leaving the possibilty that Shan could have been one of them. "Shan" is also a other name for Dai people, a ethnic group in China.
