However, she soon realised that one of her gang had stolen a jade bar, and so she commissioned [[Zhi Zhu|Zhi "The Spider" Zhu]] in intend of punish the potential culprits, [[Eddie Van Coon]] and [[Brian Lukis]]. However, she was still unable to find her treasure, and was forced to use interference of detective consultant [[Sherlock Holmes (Sherlock)|Sherlock Holmes]] in the hope that he will find the bar in their place. After mistakenly kidnapping his companion [[John Watson (Sherlock)|John Watson]] in his place with the intention of confiscating her clip, Shan was definitely thwarted by the detective but managed to escape. - From the way Soo Lin Yao phrased when talking about her, it's implicit that Shan wasn't her real name. The Shan are an ethnic minority from south-east Asia, including China, leaving the possibilty that Shan could have been one of them. "Shan" is also a other name for Dai people, a ethnic group in China.
