Charles Augustus Milverton is a fictional character and the eponymous main antagonist of the short-story "The Adventure of Charles Augustus Milverton", published in March, 1913. He was a famous blackmailer who extorts money from individuals by threatening to reveal their scandalous and incriminating secrets. He is described as a cunning and ruthless antagonist, and Sherlock Holmes considers him the worst human predator he has ever encountered.
