The Sign of the Four

From Sherlock Holmes Encyclopaedia

"How often have I said to you that when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth?"
Sherlock Holmes

The Sign of the Four is a novel written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and published in 1890.

The plot kicks off when Mary Morstan, a young woman, seeks Holmes's help after receiving a series of mysterious pearls and a letter related to her father's disappearance. The letter refers to a secret pact made by four convicts and hints at a treasure connected to this agreement. Intrigued, Sherlock Holmes and his companion Dr. Watson delve into the case, which leads them through the dark alleys of London and reveals a tangled web of deceit, greed, and revenge.
