Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century is an animated TV series. It reimagines the legendary detective in a futuristic setting. Premiering in 1999, the show brings Sherlock Holmes into a cyberpunk-inspired 22nd-century London, where he is revived from suspended animation to solve crimes once again. In this future, the city is filled with advanced technology, artificial intelligence, and robotic criminals, making Holmes’ deductive skills just as vital as ever.

The story begins when a scientist, Inspector Beth Lestrade (a descendant of the original Inspector Lestrade), revives Holmes to help battle crime in an age where Moriarty—or at least a clone of him—has returned. To assist in the transition to this new world, Holmes is paired with a robotic version of Dr. Watson, an android programmed with the personality and knowledge of his original companion. Together, they investigate crimes that often mirror classic Holmes stories but with a sci-fi twist, featuring cybernetic villains, holograms, and futuristic technology.
